Featured Distributor of the Month…

What do you do when 20+ years of corporate America is more than you can stand? For Michael Grant, he reinvented himself and joined the Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes family in 1996. He saw in Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes a professional and capable manufacturer that was in the business of mass customization; exactly what he wanted to support his desire to design and built beautiful log homes. His distributorship Modern Rustic Homes, located in Ellijay, GA. has become a successful design-build company specializing in custom log and timber frame homes. From the start his model home, “the Ellijay” raised the bar with a fresh design that featured great sight lines, open and intimate spaces, and a mix of log, timber and other natural materials. The fireplace on the porch complimented the outdoor living that makes this design so comfortable. The result is a lifestyle they call modern rustic living.

Modern Rustic HomesSince 1996 Modern Rustic Homes has designed and built custom log and timber homes from California, to New York and the South East. Many of his designs have been featured in both national and international magazines. Wild Turkey Lodge, designed to look like a European hunting lodge was selected as the Number One Log Home for 2014 by Log Home Living magazine. But, the design is only as good as the construction. Fortunately, Joe Dixon, the Modern Rustic Homes General Contractor, manages all scheduling, site preparation, materials deliveries, and construction. The team is completed with Joe Folsom who handles the sales and marketing activity, manages the Client Data Base, and administers all contracts.

When asked “What makes Modern Rustic Homes unique?” Mr. Grant replied, Simply stated, we help you create the home you dreamed about. We take the time to listen and understand how you wish your home to look and feel. We then prepare drawings to confirm this is the home you envisioned. With your agreement, we begin building your home with craftsmanship and care, in a timely manner with attention to detail. One more question that deserves a thoughtful answer…”Where do you get your inspiration?”…The reply was immediate. Two things inspire me. First my customer. They have worked a lifetime to have this home. It is about them and their vision. Not about me. I am just here to help them get their dream home. Secondly the property. They have selected the build site for a reason. I want the house to respect the land, to take advantage of the view, to make entering the house comfortable, to protect the old growth trees that may exist. To be of the land, not on the land.
